Sculptural Drawings
These “Sculptural Drawings” begin as
conventional pencil or conte drawings on heavy, off-white paper.
The artist then mounts the torn-edge drawing on a 1/8” wooden
backing and rusticates the edges. This mounted drawing now becomes
a component in a multi-layered composition (like a three-dimensional
collage, about an inch deep) in which Wilson layers cast plaster
surfaces, components, and other materials above and below the
main drawing. See "Learn
more about Layered Watercolors" for an in depth step-by-step
illustrated explanation. |
